Otuzco, Peru

Mike in the market with a couple of pigs ready for purchase

This was a pig head offered for a picture by the men watching us take pictures of the pigs above

Otuzco is composed primarily of adobe houses.  Aren't these just cute!  We love the colors and the little porches too.

Mototaxis are everywhere, buzzing about like flies.  We haven't seen a regular taxi here.

Mike was able to find tuna here, but not the same kind we have in the US.  Note the pile of adobe bricks he is standing by.

Another of the many quaint and beautiful streets, this one with a senora dressed in traditional clothes.

There was a big parade for the soccer teams on Saturday, with princesses even!  Note that she is riding in a decorated mototaxi.
Ruth, on top of the mountain that she, Dad and our guide/hostbrother Uber climbed to the top of on Saturday.

On our way back to the city, after the hike.  This mototaxi had a few chickens resting under/in it, but I don't know if you can see them in the picture

Ruth and I doing laundry.  It was a family effort.
Otuzco, Peru.  It is a sweet little town, in the foothills of the Andes, by car about 1 and 1/2 hours east of Trujillo.  It is the cutest town ever, with cobblestone streets, and many houses made of adobe painted in bright colors with little porches.  Mike and I volunteer/observe in the hospital (about 25 beds) for four hours every morning.  Ruth and Sam go to school every day, in Escuela Juan Alvarado.  Ruth is in the last grade in the school, and if she lived here in Peru permanently, would be finishing in December.  We feel safe here.  People are friendly, and it has a nice small town feel.  We are noticing more every day the beauty of this town, and the people who live here.
