A St. Patrick's Day feast

On St. Patrick's Day, Soren and I went up to my parents' house and prepared a St. Patrick's day feast with my family. It was a short day at school, and we all pitched in and helped (I may have told them that those who did not help did not get to eat it - and maybe Annie had a knife, although it has nothing to do with anything except for her talent at dicing potatoes).

We decided to go for a mix of traditional Irish-American fare and green food.

I found a crock pot recipe for the corned beef and cabbage, along in some red potatoes and carrots.

Mom cooked Irish Soda bread, at Ruth's request. It definitely wins the prize for best-looking dish.

We had green potatoes, along with green milk. Plus two green cakes:

I made a pistacho-almond cake with "rainbows" in it, which really didn't taste like pistachios or almond at all, but the Green Velvet cake, aside from looks, was divine. Check out the inside:

Mmmmmmmmmmm!

It was a fun experience for the family. Sam and Ruth loved it and decided it should be made a St. Patrick's day tradition. :)

I love everyone's green outfits! This is a great idea, maybe I'll convince my family to do someting similar next year.
