My birthday

This afternoon I got to go to the cunas, and I sat and took care of the littlest babies the whole time I was there. It was an extremely fun thing to do. They are so cute!! You will have to adopt one some day if you can. Right now you are not old enough (you have to be 25), and I think I am probably too old. My favorite is Cristina Maria, who is so beautiful and sweet. Or maybe it is Ana Cristina, who has a mop of hair and looks totally Andean. Or Andres, who is so fun and has the greatest dimples. Or maybe Juan, who has big eyes and seems so smart.

During lunch time we went to the market, which is just a short walk away. It is a small version of Merida's mercado, and has mostly fruit and meat and some flowers. I bought myself eight calla lillies and accompanying greenery for 50 cents, and two dozen pink roses for 3.50. Annie arranged them for me when I went to cunas, and the bouquet is just beautiful. Ecuador is the largest rose exporter in the world, and I am glad I got to benefit.
