We are doing two health fairs here in Guayaquil for two different stakes on Thursday and Friday. Evidently the PR person for the Church in Educador is in the ward we have been attending. The Mayor of Guayquil asked us to do more, and we are teaching CPR to a group of community, church and civic leaders on two different afternoons next week. He is planning on getting TV, radio and newspaper coverage of these activities, as well as some community teaching and homebuilding the students are already doing.
We see wheelchairs with "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" (in Spanish, though) in the hospitals and in the community. The church has obviously had a big impact in this area.
Oh--the area Seventy (Calderon?) and this PR guy also want us to teach CPR and first aid in a community hospital two hours south of Quito the Tuesday we are there. They will provide transportation. It is through the mountains, and the area where the volcano erupted in January.
The stake president of the stake here in Guayaquil came with the PR guy when they met with us tonight. I also told them we would like to get Sam baptized on the morning of the 28th. They said they would find a place to make it happen.
I am busy practically every minute, as I am sure you are. One big problem is limited computer time, because I have to share, and my roommate has her family at home, plus both of us have presentations we need to get done (I teach for 3 hours at the maternity hospital Friday morning).
